Tag 11
Day 11
I wake up early and feel like I’m in love. Through the open window with the morning air the call of the seagulls as well as bird chirping penetrates me, behind the noise of the waves.
I walk to the cliffs and make yoga on the edge of them. 16 degrees, it’s windy. I feel like this climate is made for me. And strangely, my vertigo is no longer so great here. The steady beating of the waves to the rocks is soothing, almost meditative. I hear the chirping of birds that sound like small laser guns. What irony, I think, when I realize that right now, just before the end of this journey, I have reached the state that I have missed so far. Which I had in the early summer in Monsaraz. And before that in the Sahara. But also in the Kinzigtal, in the morning, when I had slept under the naked sky and the sun rose between the mountains, to reflect itself on the river. The feeling is the same, although the places differ. Satisfaction. The feeling of being.
Traveling is strange. Or life. The Journey of live. I think of a song of Clueso „I like the last day and everything he shows me, you become so watchful for every detail … how to enjoy when you know you go …“ and wide-eyed , coupled with wistfulness, I stay anxious.
Before heading back to Lisbon, we buy vegetables and fruit in the mercado municipal, a small market with 3 stalls, located in a small hall. I try an unknown fruit and it tastes similar to papaya but less sweet and without the peppery kernels.
In the afternoon, we drove about an hour, we stop at Praia de Odeceixe. It is too windy to swim, but it is nice to stroll along the beach and watch as the waters of the Ribeira de Seixe make their way into the wide sea, footprints of large and small beings dwell in the sand for a while and create artistic forms into the sand while the water flows over the soft sand back and forth. In a small bay below the slate rocks, it is even so warm that we can still enjoy the sun a bit. Hardly imaginable that I can barefoot stroll along the beach and tomorrow again the German winter will be felt.
We continue to Vila Nova de Milfontes, a picturesque village in the Natural Park of Sudoeste Alentejano and Costa Vicentina. Here we see through the dunes our (or at least my) last sunset of the holiday and decide to extend the car one more day to bathe here tomorrow in the Rio Mira, which flows into the Atlantic.
Afterwards we cook in our apartment from the vegetables from the market with millet and sweet lupines an extensive dinner and let the day end with full bellies.
